It's alwaysw good to put on new gaskets. But the nuts only torque to25 ftlbs! If you have tightened them much beyond that it probably flattened the copper rings (gaskets) beyond proper function.
Also look where the headder and midpipe join. If you see any little V shaped caarbon deposit, it is pointing to a leak.
My Muzzy slip ons use the stock gasket to join to the headder. I would replace that too if you have one. The clamp bolts get tightened to 13 ftlbs.
I can't ever find these common parts at the dealership. I usually order on line. UPS is the new snail mail!
